July 3rd 1946 – November 9th 2013
Gloria Manning born Gloria Murray was the second child of seven children born to Beatrice Clarke and Anthony Murray who are both now deceased. She was born in South Oropouche Trinidad West Indies and was the first of three girls, her siblings are David Murray, Josephine Bushell, Peter Murray, Margaret Ann Taylor (deceased), Khalid Hassan and Phillip Murray. Gloria and Margaret were the only two to relocate to the United States and did so in mid to late 70’s to early 80’s and continued fulfilling careers here until their passing. Gloria has a son; Clarence Gore, a daughter-in-law whom she called her daughter; Candy Gore and a granddaughter whom she cherished greatly; Cleo Gore.
Gloria’s life, if she could tell you herself, was a good one, filled with ups and downs but more importantly, meaning and purpose that she understood more clearly as she came closer to passing. She was head strong, stubborn and fiercely independent but her most dominant attribute was compassion and caring as is evident by the career path she chose serving as a Psychiatric Social Worker for New York State for over 20 years. Her most cherished thoughts of her job have been that of working with children and she told many stories of those occasions with excitement, passion and laughter.
Her wishes for this occasion was that all reflect on the good times she had with them and know that she was happy for having had those life’s experiences and also that she was at peace spiritually and ready for the new journey she was undertaking. In her words “no seta crying and all dat because I am ready and I go be ok”.
She will be eternally missed.
