

Harold Blake was born in Salem MA, March 18, 1933, attended Salem High School, lettered in baseball and basketball. Harold joined the US Air Force, serving in the Korean War as a weapons mechanic. Upon leaving the US Air Force, chose a career in the Salem Police Department. Captain Harold Blake Jr. retired from the job he loved after more than 30 distinguished years of service. When asked to take a position on the Salem Licensing Board he did so willingly. In 2006 Harold and Catherine retired to New Bern, NC.
Harold loved serving his country, Salem, and his family dearly. He is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Catherine Elizabeth Blake; children; Brenda Blake Murdock, Thomas A. Blake, Steven E. Blake, Glenn A. Blake; eight grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren and beloved sister Shirley Driscoll.
A Funeral Mass at Harold and Catherine’s parish will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, August 28, 2017 at St. Paul's Roman Catholic Church in New Bern. The family will receive friends following the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials in Harold's name be made to the charity of their choice.
