

Harvey grew up with his brothers and sisters on the family farm in the Croatan community. Following his graduation from New Bern Senior High School, he served in the U.S. Coast Guard and eventually received his associate degree from Union Junior College before returning home to New Bern. Harvey owned several service stations throughout the county. He was passionate about Babe Ruth Baseball and his players. He was an avid fox hunter and is known across the country for his hounds. Harvey had a strong faith and was a proud member of the Croatan Presbyterian Church. His love and devotion to his family was unmatched and he taught his children everything they needed to know about love, faith, family and strength. He was the very best Grandaddy and was Judy's heart and soul.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey Dixon Hardison, Sr. and Alma Swindell Hardison; his son, Kenny Hardison, Sr., and his brother, Tom Hardison.
Left behind to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 60 years, Judith Keith Hardison; his children, Hollie Stump (Jeff) of Charlotte, Harvey "Jeff" Hardison, III (Elaine) of New Bern, and April Lee Perdue (Garrett) of New Bern; his beloved grandchildren, Cami Clarke (Wright), Kristin Overman (Dustin), Jeffrey Stump (Jennifer), Ashley Weeks (Jonathan), Kenny Hardison, Jr. (Makayla), Madison Hardison, Millie "Uno" Perdue, Haddie Perdue, and Anna Lou Perdue; great grandchildren, Miles, Palmer, Hayes, Parker, and two on the way, Brooks and Harvey. He is also survived by six loyal and faithful brothers and sisters and his best friends, Mike Hardison and Johnny Stevenson.
A celebration of Harvey's life will be held at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, June 20, 2023 at Cotten Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Richard Boyd officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in Harvey's name to the CarolinaEast Foundation (please designate to benefit the inpatient hospice care), 2000 Neuse Blvd, New Bern, NC 28560 or to the Eastern North Carolina Fox Hunter's Association, c/o President Tony Mitchell, 2541 Old Smithfield Rd, Princeton, NC 27569.
