Helena Maria Parr

Helena Maria Schumacher Parr, age 82, died peacefully in her home Saturday, November 24, 2012 surrounded by her family. She was born January 22, 1930 in Pittsburgh, PA, the daughter of Paul and Margaret Schumacher.

Helen married Olan D. Parr on November 24, 1949. She was a faithful, loyal and patient woman cherished by her belated husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Helen dedicated her life as a homemaker caring for her husband and six children. She had a love for history, antiques, jewelry, spending time with family, Colonial Williamsburg, sewing clothes for her children and grandchildren, and I Love Lucy.

She is survived by her brother Paul Schumacher of Saratoga Springs, NY; four sons, Olan Parr Jr. of Culpeper, VA, Kenneth Parr of Chattanooga, TN, Matthew Parr of Baden, PA and Joseph Parr of Tampa, FL; two daughters, Marianne Parr of Athens, GA and Christine Riesbeck of New Bern, NC; eighteen grandchildren, eight great- grandchildren, and her faithful dog, Lucy.

Services will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, November 27th at St. Paul’s Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, 1305 Navaho Dr., Ste. 101, Raleigh, NC 27609. Condolences may be made to the Parr family at www.cottenfuneralhome.com.
