Henry L. Albert Jr. of New Bern, North Carolina passed away peacefully on July 22, 2026. Born October 23, 1944, to Henry L. Albert, Sr. and Jeannette F. Albert and raised in Pulaski, Virginia. He left his Forever and a Day Angel, his wife Gail, to carry on. Henry is also survived by sons John (Stacy) and Temple (Jennifer). Henry has five grandchildren to miss their Granddaddy. Also surviving is his sister, Susan Wagoner and her husband George, niece Anne (Graham), nephew Bryan (Laura) and six grandnieces and grandnephews.
Henry was a loved teacher and a principal for over 47 years. Working with young people was what he loved and he never had a day he did not want to be around them. He also served as Boy Scout Scoutmaster, taught Sunday school, coached Little League baseball, volunteering as President of a Little League organization and President of a Parish Council.
The greatest chapter of Henry’s life was not defined by illness but by love. Throughout nine years with ALS, he continued to teach those around him about perseverance, grace, gratitude and quiet strength. He especially enjoyed spending time with family, friends and pets, watching birds and wildlife from his porch, reading books, and watching baseball, particularly the Washington Nationals.
The marriage Henry and Gail shared for nearly 25 years was one of extraordinary devotion, deep friendship, and enduring love.
