James Leroy Andrews, Jr., 70, of New Bern, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 24, 2021.

James was a great man who loved the Lord and his family. Some of his greatest hobbies were cutting grass and fishing. Taking care of others, especially his family, was one of James' greatest attributes. If you needed help, James was there to lend a helping hand, and we believe he is doing that right now in Heaven.

He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Lynda Andrews; son, Chris Andrews (Vicki); grandsons, Calvin Andrews, Evan Andrews, Anthony Morton, and Patrick Morton; granddaughters, Jennifer Bates, Jessica Warren, and Jamie Hobbs; and sisters, Geraldine Price, Gloria Davis, Nancy Skinner, Denise Ghantt, and Brenda Thompson.

He is preceded in death by his parents, James and Elizabeth Andrews; and brothers, Richard Andrews and Henry Andrews.

A Visitation will be held on Friday, April 30, 2021 from 12:00-1:00 PM at New Bern Church of God. A Celebration of James' Life will follow at 1:00 PM.

Cotten Funeral Home and Crematory is honored to serve the family of James Leroy Andrews, Jr.

James, I have always looked up at you as My Hero, My #1 Big Brother. You have always treated me like I was more like your Daughter, then your Baby Sister. You and Lynda have always had a big part in my life. I love and appreciated everything you all have ever done for me. All the Hospital visits, Standing by me as I went into a lot of Surgeries. I just want you to know you will always be missed, But you want ever be forgotten. God gave you a set of wings because He knew you well deserved them. I am so glad you were able to spend time with your Lil Man, Connor Lee Nicholas Morris. You were like a Grandpa to him. God has Blessed you with all the Good you have always done for Ppl. You have always had a Heart of Gold. .Love you and Miss you and all your phone calls. You will be missed until we meet again..... Your Baby Sister, Brenda Andrews Thompson.

I would like to send our deepest condolences to Ms Linda , Chis and the whole Andrews Family . I have been apart of this family and I know first hand the love that Mr James had for each and every one Especially Ms Linda he loved her more then life and his son Chis how he always was bragging on Chris . James also love each one of his siblings , Geraldine , Nancy , Brenda ,Gloria and Denise . He would often tell me family is the most important thing . He once told me you can always tell what kinda person a man is within the first five minutes of a conversation if he told you all about his family and god . Mr James love the lord very much so, I had never worked with such a man like this before he truly was a godly man he new the lord and loved him with every thing in him . We would often talk about the lord on lunch breaks or on the ride home after working all day and he would tell me that if it would not have been for Ms Linda and his mother and the lord he would not be the man he was . I learned alot working with Mr James in the short time we worked together at R Brown Electric he showed me that hard work never hurt anyone and that you get out of life what you put in and to be thankful every day for what you have . he also had two brother that he love very much and was also very proud of them , he also had several Nieces and Nephews he love very much . Mr James will truly be missed by everyone that knew him he was such a great man .
