He is survived by two sons, Todd Porter of New Bern; Randy Porter of Morehead City; one daughter, Michelle Japp of Greensboro; two sisters, Hilda Grimes of Faison and Peggy Cannady of Cary; and four grandchildren.
Visitation will begin at 2:00 pm Sunday, September 21, 2014 at Cotten Funeral Home, followed by his funeral service at 3:00 pm. Burial will be held at 11:00 am Monday, September 22, 2014 in the Hillcrest Cemetery, Newton Grove, NC.
