

Jimmie was a 30 year Navy Veteran who served under combat condition in World War II, Korea and Vietnam. After Navy Retirement, he worked at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft Company as a prepulsion engineer; He subsequently returned to the Navy as a Civilian and worked at Command Naval Air Force Atlantic Fleet and Naval Aviation Logistics Center for 10 years. He retired in 1984 and moved to Fairfield Harbor at that time.
Jimmie married his wife Eleanora (Elle) of 74 years and they have one daughter, Joan Midgett of Zephyrhills, Florida.
Jimmie has no surviving brothers or sisters. His seven siblings predeceased him. Eleanora and Jimmie have numerous nephews & nieces who all stay in touch.
Jimmie is a member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church and a past Grand Knight and Honorary 4th Degree Life member of the Knights of Columbus. He was President of the East Carolina Golf Association for several years as well as President of the Fairfield Men's Golf Association. Jimmie was also active in the "Hook a Kid on Golf" program. He is a member of Disabled American Vets NR 40 and American Legion Post 569.
Jimmie grew up and attended school in Washington, DC, St. Josephs Grade School and Gonzaga Prep School.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 3:00 pm on Thursday, April 12, 2018 at Cotten Funeral Home. A rosary & prayer service will then be held at 3:00 pm. A Funeral Mass will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, April 13, 2018 at St. Paul Catholic Church. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. A reception will be held in the atrium of the church following burial.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials in Jimmie's name be made to the St. Paul School & Scholarship Fund.
