  Uncle Jimmy and I shared a love of nature and gardening. Each time we would meet, we would discuss such things. I recall visiting his and Aunt Pat's place in New Bern and being given the tour of his front and back yards. There was such joy in his endeavors, as he would describe the challenges of growing various plants in his new environment. My Uncle was also a very warm, loving man. This extended to strangers as well as loved ones, as I witnessed that numerous times. And, of course, my mother named me after her younger brother. Uncle Jimmy will be remembered, forever.

Mr. Jim, 

Such a generous man, and great neighbor!  Thank you for your tireless work mowing mom and dad's (neighbors) yards, and providing treats for all of the neighborhood dogs.  We are all eternally grateful!

As a young boy, I came to know Uncle Jimmy and experienced first hand what a gentle, intelligent and compassionate gentleman he was. Despite my youth, I recall how he treated me with such respect and valued my opinions and feelings. It is obvious to me now that this was a result of his gifts as an educator. He was a family man, and his gracious demeanor and love for his family were at the very essence of his humanity and soul. I pray he will continue to shower down from heaven his love and kindness, inspiring those around us to follow his example of a life well lived. In love and prayer, I remain united to you.....

Jim Gormly was a good neighbor and a fine man. He always had a treat for our dog and a beautiful smile for everyone. Thinking of you, Pat

Uncle Jim always lit up the room with his smile and his loving presence. He cherished his large, extended family, and he did the little things to show you how much he cared. He brightened our lives, and his light now brightens the heavens. I will miss him so much.

Jimmy you were not only a great Husband, and Father, but a great Brother-In-Law. You were always there for George & I and the girls. I am a better person because of you. God Bless! You will be missed but never forgotten.

Uncle Jimmy you were an amazing, loving man......you will be missed. I have so many great memories of my childhood of our time together....we will miss you....love Gary, Kerri, drew and ashley

Remembering Jim and how his face lit up when his grandchildren sang "There was a boy by the name of Billy Hoe". Jim sang it to his children when they were little and Kevin sang it with our three.
