

Jim was the devoted husband of Eileen Marie Milligan for 65 wonderful years. Their marriage was a remarkable partnership filled with deep love, laughter, and unwavering support. Together, they built a beautiful life grounded in shared values and joyful companionship.
Jim lived each day with energy, enthusiasm, and a boundless zest for life. He found joy in the outdoors and cherished time spent sailing, camping, playing tennis and pickleball, biking, or simply enjoying the company of loved ones. His warm presence and adventurous spirit made him a beloved friend and pillar of his community. Jim had a remarkable gift for connection and brought light and strength to those around him.
He was a man of character, curiosity, and quiet strength. His family deeply respects his many accomplishments and will forever honor the legacy he leaves behind.
Above all, Jim will be remembered for his kindness, infectious laughter, adventurous heart, and the profound love he held for his family. He will be missed beyond words and remembered with deep love—always.
In addition to his beloved wife Eileen, Jim is survived by his children: Kathleen "Kathy" Thompson (Dean) James Joseph Milligan (Amy), Theresa "Tammy" Chartier (Troy); his sister Margaret "Peggy" Duffner; grandchildren Genna (Walt), Kaitlin, Bobby (Krissten), Ellie, Lucy, and Jimmy; and great-grandchildren Evan and Jamie.
A celebration of Jim’s life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to donate to Journey of Hope in New Bern and to honor Jim’s memory by spending time outdoors, sharing a story, or performing an act of kindness.
