James was a friend to many while attending K-5th grades at A. H. Bangert Elementary School. James had a love for outdoors and was looking forward to spending his days in the sun this summer. He enjoyed sports and had previously played baseball, basketball, soccer, and football prior to his stroke in 2018. James was a Disney movie lover and would often recite movie lines or sing along with the songs. Other things he enjoyed included shopping for BB guns, pocket knives, snow skiing with his uncles, and riding roller coasters as he grew. James had aspirations to be an engineer.
He is survived by his loving mother, Sarah Muse, grandmother, Becky Muse, uncle, Danny Muse (Jeremiah), aunts, Beth Branson (Jesse) and Amy Muse, cousins, David J. Muse and Haven Branson and great grandparents, David & Gwyn Page.
He is preceded in death by his grandfather, David A. Muse and great grandmother, Ella Muse.
The family would like to thank all therapists at Theraplay Junction, the nurses and doctors at Vidant Medical Center PICU, and East Carolina University’s Specialty Care Doctors who all played a vital role in providing love, support, and guidance since James’ stroke.
Flowers can be sent to Cotten Funeral Home.
