James Royce Washington

Jim is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years, Roberta; his daughter, Jessica; his son, Jimmy (partner Britney Owens); and his brother, John Loftus (wife Debi Loftus). He was preceded in death by his mother, Joyce Olsen, and his beloved grandmother, Lily Phillips.

Jim was, above all else, a family man and a friend to everyone he met. He never met a stranger he couldn't strike up a conversation with. His wit, humor, and endless supply of stories made him a favorite wherever he went. An avid outdoorsman, Jim found his peace in nature. Whether he was spear fishing in his youth or taking his kids out hunting at dawn, the outdoors was where he felt most at home.

Jim was also a beloved member of the local shag community, where he was known just as well on the dance floor as he was everywhere else. It was one of his great joys, and the family he made there meant the world to him.
