Jane Lee Gallagher

Jane Lee Gallagher, 77, joined her Lord and Savior on June 25, 2026. She was born on November 5, 1948, in Cleveland, Ohio. Jane lived in New Bern, North Carolina, where she lived a life defined by quiet strength, unwavering faith, and a kindness that always made room for others.

She was the daughter of Joseph and Norma Lee Watson. She is survived by her brother, Joseph Watson, and preceded in death by her sister, Jill Miller.

Jane earned her Associate Degree in Nursing from Cuyahoga Community College and became a Registered Nurse where she embraced a profession that reflected the compassion already rooted in her heart. She cared for others with uncommon tenderness and dignity, meeting both ordinary days and life's most difficult moments with calm resolve. Nursing was more than a career to Jane—it was an expression of the love she believed every person deserved.

There are lives that announce themselves loudly, and there are lives that change the world with quiet faithfulness. Jane's was the latter. She carried herself with grace and humility, finding purpose not in recognition but in loving and serving others well. Whether through a thoughtful word, a listening ear, or a helping hand, she offered a steady presence that brought comfort to all who knew her.

She was first married to Wayne Dysinger with whom she had four children: David Dysinger (Angie), Julie Rogers (Mathew), Daniel Dysinger (Kirsten), and Donovan Dysinger (Katrina). Above every title she held, Jane treasured being a mother. Her greatest joys multiplied in her six grandchildren—Cameron Dysinger, Logan Rogers, Jocelyn Rogers, Luke Rogers, Aiden Dysinger, and Raylee Dysinger—each of whom knew the steadfast love of a grandmother whose prayers, encouragement, and gentle presence will remain with them always. Jane later remarried and shared many cherished years with her late husband, Joseph "Red" Gallagher.

Jane found beauty in life's quiet moments. She loved tending her garden, painting, playing cards with her friends. She also enjoyed creating with her hands, finding peace in bringing beauty into the world. She had a special affection for her neighborhood ducks and was a devoted advocate for wildlife, believing that all of God's creation was worthy of care and protection.

Her Christian faith was the foundation upon which she built her life. She worshiped faithfully and joyfully sang in the choir at First Baptist North Myrtle Beach. She later joined Latitude Church in New Bern, where she served wherever she was needed and was also a part of the women’s bible study group. Jane's faith was never confined to words alone; it was evident in the compassion she extended, the humility with which she lived, and the hope she quietly shared with those around her. She reflected Christ not by seeking the spotlight, but by faithfully serving and loving others, day after day.

The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the caring staff and volunteers of SECU Crystal Coast Hospice House for the compassion which brought comfort during Jane's final days. They also would like to thank her church family, friends, and neighbors for surrounding her with prayers, kindness, and unwavering love.

Though Jane's earthly journey has come to its peaceful close, the seeds of love she planted continue to flourish in the lives she nurtured. Her legacy is found not only in the family she cherished, but in every act of kindness she inspired, every life she comforted, and every heart made gentler by knowing her. We rejoice in the promise that she now rests in the eternal peace of her Savior, where faith has become sight, and love endures forever.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Cotten Funeral Home, Chapel, 2201 Neuse Blvd, New Bern, North Carolina 28560, on Monday, June 29, 2026, at 11:00 am. The family will receive friends following the service.
