After spending many years working in Human Resources in Burlington, Vermont, she “retired” to a life of volunteer work. The United Way of Burlington Vermont, Prescott Arizona, and New Bern North Carolina, were some of the civic organizations that she served. Over the last several years, Janet concentrated her efforts volunteering with the Carolina East Foundation, where she valued the trust and comradery derived from working with her colleagues there.
Janet is survived by her daughter, Laura J. Niewenhous along with Laura’s husband Richard, and their two daughters, Anella Jane, and Casey Ellen Niewenhous, all of New Bern.
A celebration of her life will be held at 6:00 p.m., October 16 at Cotten Funeral Home.
