Janice Dale Umstead

Janice Dale Umstead, 61, went home to be with the lord on the morning of Monday, August 26, 2019. Fondly called "Tootles or Shenanigans", she loved ceramics, animals and socializing with others. She worked at Kentucky Fried Chicken and in the laundry room at the Craven County Hospital. She was a member at the New Bern Church of God where she loved her church, but most of all, her savior. She will be remembered for her witty, fun loving personality, remarkable memory and the nicknames she would give everyone.

She is survived by her mother, Joan Tucker Umstead; her stepmother, Sarah Umstead; her sisters, Kim Umstead Ipock (Donald), Felicia Newman; as well as two nieces, Melissa Ipock, Stephanie Newman and three nephews, Jonathan Ipock, Jordan Newman, Micheal Umstead.

She is preceded in death by her father, Donald Umstead; her brother, Wayne Umstead; her grandparents, Joseph and Arkie Tucker and John and Della Umstead.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-7:00 pm on Wednesday, August 28, 2019 at New Bern Church of God. The memorial service will follow at 7:00 pm. Arrangements are held by Cotten Funeral Home and Crematory.

A special thank you to Craven County Hospice (Joy) and Home Life Care for making her feel loved and cared for. Their dedication and service helped provide a better quality of life for both Janice and family.
