Jean Kathryn Fulcher

Jean Kathryn Stephenson Fulcher, age 91, of New Bern, North Carolina passed away on Wednesday, April 3, 2024. Jean was born February 12, 1933 in Northampton County, NC. She was the daughter of Fred and Anna Stephenson and the oldest of four children.

After graduating from East Carolina Teacher's College (now ECU) she accepted a teaching position in New Bern, where she taught until retirement.

Jean was preceded in death by her husband Murry Fulcher, better known as “Monk”; her parents Fred and Anna Stephenson; brother Tommy Stephenson; sister-in-laws Evelyn Stephenson and Ava Smith; two nephews.

She is survived by her daughter Carolyn and son, Steve; brothers Charles and Elliot Stephenson; sister-in-laws Lou and Nancy Stephenson; 10 nieces and nephews and her dear friend Wayne Anderson.

Jean loved life and never said an unkind word about anyone. She will be greatly missed.

The funeral service will be held Tuesday, April 9, 2024 at 2:00 PM at First Baptist Church, 239 Middle Street in New Bern. Visitation will be at 1:00 PM, prior to the service in the church sanctuary. Burial will follow at Greenleaf Memorial Park.
