Jean was born in Charleston SC, the youngest child of Lucy Laurens de Saussure Moore and Col. John Washington Moore. Her father was a Professor at The Citadel and Superintendent of Schools in Florence SC, where Jean spent much of her youth. She graduated from the University of South Carolina and in 1942 married her husband of 59 years, Alfred LeBlanc of New Orleans. There, she was a faithful member of the Trinity Episcopal Church; the Junior League of New Orleans; The National Society of The Colonial Dames of America, Louisiana Society; and Le Petit Salon. She was endearing, engaging, kind and loved by all who knew her for her darling soul.
Jean was preceded in death by her beloved husband and sisters Amory de Saussure Moore Merritt, Mary Waldrop Moore and Anne Laurens Moore Minson.
She is survived by her children, Laurens LeBlanc Lichty (Karl) of New Bern NC, Jane LeBlanc Jenkins of Morris IL, and Nancy LeBlanc Turner of Hiroshima, Japan; grandchildren, Samuel Jenkins of Morris IL, Sybil Turner Goff of Summerville SC and Marsha Turner Potter (Ben) of Goose Creek SC; and great-grandchildren Fallon and Amorie Goff, and Logan, Reece and Cecile Potter.
Jean will be laid to rest on May 19, 2018 at 11:00 am, in the de Saussure family plot at the Magnolia Cemetery, Charleston, with a Priest from St. Michael's Episcopal Church officiating.
