Jeffrey Thomas Edgerton, 58, passed peacefully surrounded by his family and friends at The Gardens of Trent, Wednesday, August 26, 2026.
Jeff was one of four cherished children born to James Blalock and Mary Elizabeth Taylor Edgerton. He was a special gift from God who brought his family and friends much joy. As a lifelong member of Temple Baptist Church, his love of God was reflected in his service as a Deacon, his beautiful smile, his infectious laughter and the fact that he never failed to tell everyone he met that he loved them.
Jeff was preceded in death by his brother, Michael Allen Edgerton, his parents, James and Mary Edgerton, his niece, Lynn Edgerton Sherron and a step-nephew, David Garbark.
Jeff is survived by his brother, James F. Edgerton (Ann) of Cornelius, NC, his sister Susan E. Coore (David) of Oak Island, NC, niece Brandon C. Dunn (David Ferguson) of Vass, NC, nephew Dr. Hunter A. Coore (Leanne) of Greenville, NC, great nieces Victoria L. Dunn (Greg Sass) of Durham, NC, Cassidy S. Johnson (Tim) of Wake Forest, NC, great nephews Griffin A. and John David Coore of Greenville, NC, great great nephews, Easton W. and Cayson Johnson of Wake Forest, NC, step-niece, Cathie Jackson (Garland) of Davidson, NC, step-nephew, Michael Garbark (Katie) of Charlotte, NC, step-great nieces Madison Garbark of Cornelius, NC, Gracie Jackson of Del Ray, Fl, Bethany and Ella Jackson of Davidson, NC Savannah (Jonathan) of Charlotte, NC, Elizabeth of Charlotte, NC, step-great great nephew Roddy Tillman and step-great great niece, Rhea Tillman both of Charlotte, NC, special “sister” Janice Wiggins and special “brother” Lannie Wood.
A celebration of Jeff’s life will be held at Temple Church on Monday, August 31, 2026 at 12:00 pm. The family will receive friends in the sanctuary of the church one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Greenleaf Memorial Park.
