Jerry Holt Diffee Jr.

Born on September 27, 1954, at Eglin Air Force Base, Florida, Jerry was the beloved son of the late Jerry Holt Diffee, Sr. and Frances Diffee.

A 1972 graduate of Havelock High School, Jerry was a proud member of the school’s golf team. He went on to earn a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Barton College before beginning a successful career as a financial and life insurance advisor. Jerry faithfully served clients for more than 30 years with United Services Life, ReliaStar, and ING, earning the trust and respect of colleagues and those he advised throughout his career.

Jerry found his greatest joy in spending time with family, especially fishing trips with his son, Michael. He also treasured the companionship of his beloved Chihuahua, Chico, who rarely left his side. He had a deep love for gardening and took great pride in the produce he grew, especially his tomatoes, cucumbers, and squash.

He is survived by his wife, Lorrie Diffee; son, Michael Whitlatch of Morehead City; his mother, Frances Diffee of Havelock; his step-grandsons, Austin Coombs and Jarad Coombs; his garden advisors, Miss Nettie and Peggy, as well as many cherished cousins, lifelong friends, and extended family members who will miss his humorous spirit and quiet friendship.

Jerry was preceded in death by his father, Jerry Holt Diffee, Sr.

Arrangements are being handled by Cotten Funeral Home in New Bern, NC. A service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 10th at Cotten Funeral Home Chapel, with a reception to follow. He will be laid to rest following the reception at Greenleaf Memorial Cemetery with a graveside service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the general fund of Cherry Point Baptist Church.

Jerry will be remembered for his kind character, his devotion to those he loved, and the many memories shared with family and friends. His legacy of kindness, humor, loyalty, and friendship will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
