Jess and I met through a mutual friend, at the beach, when we were 19. We became fast friends ... spending the next few summers together and creating a foundation for a life long friendship.
Jessica’s realistic attitude, wild curly blond hair (which I always coveted), and spectacular sense of humor had me at ‘Hi’. I mean come on - I wanted to be this girl’s friend! Those first summers were filled with lots of sun, laughter, riding in Jessica’s car listening to Wilson Phillips, watching Dirty Dancing, and talking into the night. I was even there to help Jessica get ready for her first beach date with Tim!
I think I’ve spent more time in my life talking to Jessica than any other person. As we got older and even if we had not talked in awhile — as soon as we did, her voice made me smile, and we were gabbing and sharing life stories like we had seen each other just yesterday.
I will cherish our friendship always. Her voice, her dating advise (which I still need), her laughter, her honesty, her compassion, her love for animals, her everything ... I will miss terribly.
May the stars rise up to met her ...
For they have a long distance to go to catch her absolute awesomeness.
Sending much love,

Dear Tim, Jake, Josh and Meghan,
I was so terribly sorry to receive the news tonight of Jessica's passing - particularly not knowing her battle this past year due to our move. Our family will always cherish the memories of our backyard playtimes with the kids during their earliest years in our first homes. You were truly good friends during our newlywed years when our children were so young together making our early years in New Bern wonderful. I'll never forget the kids' smiles and infectious laughter filling our common driveway. Jessica was always there for us when needing a hand with anything and even taught our youngest daughter Elena at First Presbyterian.
Please know that you and your family are forever in our thoughts and prayers.
With loving memory - your friend,
