Jimmie Ray Allen, 82, went to be with his Lord and Savior on December 2, 2025 at Grantsbrook Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Grantsboro, NC with his daughter, Sheila Plunkett by his side. Jimmie was born in Four Oaks, NC to the late James Allen and Lucille Lassiter. He graduated from Four Oaks High School and served in the United States Army Reserve. Jimmie was a caring father, grandfather and great grandfather who lived life to the fullest and knew no strangers.
He owned and operated Harley Davidson of New Bern for 45 years with his daughter joining him in 1992 to help run the business. He was one of the founding members of the North Carolina and South Carolina Dealers Association and a sponsor and active member of the New Bern Owners Group since 1986. Jimmie was an avid outdoorsman who loved all sports especially riding dirt bikes in his younger years, hosting and riding his Harley to many charity events for others. Other favorite activities were hunting, mostly deer, fishing when he had a chance and gathering with friends for fellowship and meals at his hunting clubs. Jimmie was known throughout the community for his dedication and service to his customers and his charitable contributions to the community.
He is preceded in death by his parents, best friend Brenda Allen, longtime companion Margaret Henries and brother Rex Massingill. Jimmie is survived by his daughter Sheila Plunkett, grandson James Plunkett( Allison), great grandson Rowen Plunkett, brother Larcey Massingill, niece Julie Higgins(Ronnie) and great nieces and nephews.
The family will have a Celebration of Life service in New Bern after the first of the year with the details to be announced later. They wish to thank all of their friends and family for their support and also the Grantsbrook facility for their compassion.
