

Jimmie Houston Sapp Jr., a New Bern resident and skilled painter, passed away on August 13th at the age of 50 after a long battle with diabetes. Born in Tampa, Florida, Jimmie moved to New Bern at the age of 12 and made North Carolina his home.
Jimmie was known for his friendly nature and never met a stranger. He loved being a dad and took great pride in his children. As an avid golfer, he enjoyed every aspect of the game. Jimmie also found joy in fishing with his lifelong friend, Chuck Kane.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jimmie Sr. and Nellie. Jimmie is survived by his wife, Sandy, and his two daughters, Ragan and Emma. He also leaves behind his sisters, Chantal Hollatschek, Vikki Sapp, Jennifer Pittman and brothers-in-law Jesse and Bob. Other survivors include his uncle, Robert Clark, and his wife Jean, as well as nephews Robert, Devin, and Chris, along with many cousins and friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday August 22nd at Neuse River Baptist Church located at 3702 Old Cherry Point Rd, New Bern, NC 28560 at 5:00 PM, followed by a memorial service at 6:00 PM. Service will be officiated by Jesse Pittman and Jason Smith.
