He grew up in Oceanside, NY. He was the flight instructor at Sky Sailors in Westhampton Beach located at Gabreski Airport. He delighted people with Glider rides over the Hampton area in eastern Long Island. John has been retired in North Carolina for seven years.
He is survived by his partner, Mary Lynne Desmond of New Bern, two sisters, Pat Behrens of Fairfield Harbour, Susan Geiser of Arizona, three children, Jeanine, John and Erin, all of New York.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm Sunday, March 29, 2015 at Cotten Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
