He was a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church in Havelock. He served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II. He is preceded in death by his wife Bobbie Magers Tarver.
John is survived by his daughter, Vicki Cieszko and husband Ned of Havelock, his grandchildren, Christopher Cieszko and wife Alison of Greenville; Jonathan Cieszko and wife Lauren of Havelock; and two great grandchildren, Davis and Ryan Cieszko.
Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 pm Friday, September 27, 2013 at Trinity Presbyterian Church. Services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, September 28, 2013 at Trinity Presbyterian Church. Burial will follow at Greenleaf Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Trinity Presbyterian Church Building Fund.
