Jonathan was my friend and colleague at Millbrook High School.  We jokingly referred to each other as work spouses. And I must say, he was the ideal work husband- He was the co-founder of the Digital Media Career Academy. He was a smart, creative, generous man who cared deeply about his students and his colleagues. An Army veteran who used to jump out of perfectly good airplanes, Jon was a deep thinker and an expert carpenter with a degree in philosophy. He had a great sense of humor and a booming laugh. He lived for his children and would sacrifice anything he had for them. He revered and loved his mother. He was a warrior who believed in peace and justice. Jon had the biggest heart for his family, his friends, his furry pets, and anyone who was in need of a kind word or gesture. I imagine Jon roared up to heaven on his motorcycle to invite Jesus out for a beer (from his home brew) and to tell God about his kids and new grand baby.  And God said, welcome home, Jonathan, your sister has been waiting to see you again.
But Jon, here on earth, you will be greatly missed and remembered by all who knew and loved you.

Mr. Davis was my favorite teacher and mentor throughout my junior and senior years at Millbrook High School. He was kind, helpful and most importantly a supportive friend. He will be missed by everyone he taught. Rest In Peace, Mr. Davis.

One of my kids was a part of the DMCA at MHS for 3 years, and Mr. Davis was always willing to spend his time letting me pick his brain on teaching, parenting, and how to guide my own children in their high school and college stages of life.  He gave great advice, as it involved Gwendolyn, who has just finished her first year in Simulation and Game Design.

Thanks to Mrs. Cortright and her 2020-2021 MHS yearbook staff, I am able to share a bit about Mr. Davis' being honored as a veteran in our yearbook at the end of one of those difficult pandemic years.  He will be missed by so many and had such a great impact on so many lives.

Mr. Davis was my high school graphic arts teacher when he lived in Roanoke Rapids, NC. He was one of the best teachers who cared so much about all of his students. He will be missed by so many! Sending my thoughts and prayers to his family and friends!

To the family,

I worked with Mr. Davis during his last couple years at Millbrook. He was also my daughter's Adobe teacher, which is how I got to have a few personal conversations with him. He was incredibly encouraging and helpful to my daughter knowing she wanted to go into Interior Design. He adapted the class to fit her interests, which in turn held her interest in a class that was probably over her head. I appreciated his careful focus and attention on the students in his classroom. He was good people. My condolences to you all.

Nathan, Susannah and all of the Davis family,

I had the good fortune of working with Jonathan for a few years at Millbrook and having more than a few conversations. If those convos were not about work, they were almost always about his kids, with a few exceptions to talk about his guitars. And those conversations always reflected the joy and passion you brought to his life.  I was fortunate to work with him and share in those conversations. 

Jonathan was a good man. My condolences for your loss.

I was a colleague and friend of your father from Millbrook High School. He was a very talented, creative and passionate teacher, always supporting his students. He always tried to do what was best for his students  which meant encouraging learning and creativity, but could also include a tough conversation, when needed. He had a quick sense of humor which I appreciated. We talked about many things over the years, but his favorite topic was you. He was extremely proud of both of you. He was very happy to welcome Colleen into your family and super excited about becoming a grandfather. When Violet was born, he was over the moon! We talked about being a grandparent being his best role ever. 
Please accept my condolences on the loss of your father and hold close your memories and the love that he had for each of you.

I am so sorry for your loss. I worked with Mr. Davis at Millbrook and he would talk about his love for his kids. He was so excited to move down East to be near his son and we would talk about it often and eastern NC in general as I'm from Jones County. I'm saddened that he didn't get more time with you all. Rest easy my friend.

I am very sorry for your loss. I worked with Jonathan at Millbrook High School. My students were in a special program and Jonathan was always kind and willing to work with my students. He was always determined to modify his course to the needs of each of my students. He also helped with other projects, such as, my Teacher of the Year video.
