

Joe grew up in Southern California where he surfed and sailed. He also played guitar in Various bands.
Joe was drafted into the Army where he served in Vietnam leaving behind the joyful days of surfing. Joe was enlisted as a medic, and because of his medical experience in Vietnam he decided to pursue a career in healthcare.
After his tour in Vietnam he became a respiratory therapist. He was offered a job at CarolinaEast Medical Center in New Bern, North Carolina, where he quickly advanced becoming the Director of Cardiopulmonary.
It was in New Bern where he met the love of his like Julie. Joe's dream was to one day retire, buy a sailboat and sail around the world.So he,his wife Julie and their beloved little terrier dog "Spice Girl" bought their dream boat and lived a pirate life for over 20 years.
At one of the marina's where Joe lived the other boaters gave him the nickname "Chicken Joe' because of his delicious hot chicken wings he would grill every night for all the other pirates aboard their boats. When Joe wasn't grilling wings he could often be seen fishing with his little dog "Spice Girl". His wife Julie even wrote a song about them.
Joe was and still is loved dearly by his wife Julie, and will be lovingly remembered and missed.
