He served his country in the U.S. Air Force and he was a member of Crossroads Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Linda; one son, David Smith and wife Gloria of Yorktown, VA; three daughters, Robin Barnes and husband John, Teresa Carter and husband Billy, and Scarlett Phillips, all of Walterboro, SC; fourteen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, November 3, 2012 at Crossroads Baptist Church. Burial will follow at New Bern Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
