

Kathleen was born on July 2, 1940, in a small steel town Brackenridge, PA, 21 miles North of Pittsburgh, PA. Her parents were William and Josephine Affrica. Siblings were William (Barbara), Carolyn (Ernie), Merilyn (Harold), John (Eileen), Daniel (Karen), and several nieces and nephews.
She attended Har-Brack High School and graduated in 1958. While in high school she was very active in cheerleading, homecoming queen and lead in the high school play "Our Hearts Were Young and Gay".
After high school she attended an Airline School to become a flight attendant. She worked for Eastern Airlines in New York City before returning to Brackenridge to work For Allegheny Ludlum Steel Co.
She married in 1964 to Francis Desmone and had four children, John (Barbara, children Madison and Anna), Cassie (Woody), Chris and Natalie (daughter Greta).

Married Don Herring on September 13, 2003.
Kathleen died February 10, 2025.
She loved her husband, Don and her children, grandchildren and family.
She liked the beach, cards, shopping and dancing.
A funeral mass will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at St. Paul Catholic Church.
