Kevin Joseph Steoger was a man with a big heart, a wicked sense of humor, and a love for life that touched everyone who knew him. His life may have been cut short—much like his height—but his personality, laughter, and love left a mark much bigger than he ever realized.
Born on May 9, 1972, Kevin spent most of his life in Marlton, New Jersey, but North Carolina was where his heart truly belonged. In 2021, he made the move to Trent Woods, North Carolina, with his fiancée, Carrie Rovere (Graeff), where he enjoyed the life he loved, surrounded by family, friends, and the things that made him happiest.
Kevin had a special place in his heart for animals, the beach, golf, cigars, and, of course, his beloved Washington Redskins. And just to be clear, they were the Redskins—not the Commanders. Some things in life are simply nonnegotiable, and Kevin was not about to change his mind now.
His faithful dog, Riggins, was more than a pet. He was Kevin’s constant companion, loyal shadow, and best buddy who stayed by his side through it all. If you knew Kevin, you knew Riggins was never far away.
Kevin loved making people laugh. He had a way of bringing humor into a room, often when it was needed most. Beneath the sarcasm, jokes, and occasional stubbornness was a loving heart that cared deeply for the people in his life. He cherished his family and friends, enjoyed a good laugh, a day at the beach, a round of golf, and a cigar in hand.
Kevin is survived by his fiancée, Carrie Rovere (Graeff), his brother, Scott Steoger,(Jenn;) along with many beloved family members and friends who will forever hold him close to their hearts. He was preceded in death by his sister, Denise Steoger, father, James Steoger, and mother, Carole Steoger (Laing).
Kevin was loved far more than he ever knew. While he may not have always realized just how much he meant to the people around him, his absence will leave a space that cannot be filled. His laughter will be remembered, his jokes will be repeated, his love will live on, and his loyalty to the Redskins will undoubtedly continue somewhere beyond this world.
Though our time with Kevin was far too short, we are grateful for the memories, the laughter, and the love he left behind. He will be deeply missed by everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
Rest easy, Kev. May the beaches be endless, the golf courses always open, the cigars plentiful, and the Redskins finally win another Super Bowl. And wherever you are, we hope you are happy and making everyone laugh in Heaven.
You were loved more than you ever knew, Kev. And you always will be.
