Laura Mary Polidori Clemmons

Laura Polidori Thomas Clemmons, 84, of the Sterling House in New Bern died May 21, 2011. She and her husband, the late Joseph A. Clemmons, had lived in Wilmington many years before she moved to New Bern. She is survived by her son Dr. Jeffery R. Thomas and wife Susan of New Bern: granddaughter Lindsay Wentz, husband Brett Wentz, and great grandson “TJ” Thomas Jason Wentz all of Wilmington, NC. She was the grandmother of the late Jeffrey “JT” Jason Thomas and the sister of the late Albert Polidori originally of Philadelphia, PA.

Laura served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. She was a 35 year member of the Fleet Reserve Association, Branch 299, Wilmington, NC and a member of the Disabled American Veterans, Chapter 11 Wilmington, NC then later transferred to the Disabled American Veterans, Chapter 40, New Bern, NC. She was a fund raiser for these organizations as well as worked for the Shriners’ Crippled Children. Laura had been a caretaker for numerous people, loved animals and her God and Country.

Funeral arrangements are by Cotten Funeral Home in New Bern, NC. Visitation will be from 6:30 - 7:30 May 23, 2011 at Cotten Funeral Home. A Lakeside service will be held at Greenleaf Memorial Park Tuesday May 24, 2011 at 11:30 AM with Navy Military Honors.
