

Lawrence “Larry” Fagan, 86, died suddenly at his home in New Bern on Friday, January 13, 2017. A native of Pittsburgh, PA, he served in the Army during the Korean War, married his wife Ruth of 61 years, and raised five children while living first in Pittsburgh and then in Rochester, NY for over thirty years.
Larry worked at Mellon Bank and Standard Register before starting his own company, Tech Business Systems. Ruth and Larry sold their business in 1999 and retired to New Bern, living in the Greenbrier community for the last eighteen years. Larry was involved in charitable work throughout his years in New Bern, including RCS Food Kitchen, Merci Clinic, St. Paul’s hospital visitation services, and most recently, Meals on Wheels. He enjoyed golf, fishing, and spending summers with his family at Emerald Isle. Above all, Larry will be remembered as a wonderful husband, great dad, loving grandfather and the kind of friend everyone would like to have.
He is survived by Ruth; daughter, Amy (Charlie) Thibault of Wellington FL; sons, Marty (Debbie) of Roswell GA, Pat (Avril) of Montclair NJ and Luke (Chris) of Syracuse NY; and eleven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by their son, Jamie.
Larry and Ruth were active parishioners of St. Paul Catholic Church where his funeral mass will be held on Thursday, January 19th at 2:00 pm with burial to follow at the cemetery located on church grounds. The family will be receiving friends thirty minutes before the funeral mass and at a reception immediately following the burial service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Civitan Ramp Fund or the St. Paul’s Building Fund.
