Linda Anderson Mize was born on December 22, 1940, to William Noah Anderson and Minnie Leona Peacock Anderson. Born in Lexington, NC, she was a lifelong resident. Linda was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Howard Vann Mize; and all three of her children.
Melissa “Missy” Gale passed in Linda’s arms at the age of 11 months on March 7, 1961.
On January 19, 1962, she and Vann were blessed with the gift of a son, Gregory Vann Mize, who ran into the arms of Jesus on May 12, 2023. Greg was her last living child.
On January 15, 1964, God gifted Vann and Linda with the birth of their youngest son, Todd Jeffrey Mize, who went home to be with the Lord on July 14, 2003.
Linda leaves behind to cherish her memory a daughter-in-law that she loved and treated like a daughter, Beth Mize, wife of Greg Mize. Also to cherish her memory are four grandchildren, Christopher Mize, who lovingly named her Nana (Stephanie), Leanna Mize, Jessica Mize (Joe), Tyler Mize (Jordan), and eight great-grandchildren. Our family would like to make mention of Mike Warren, a very special extended family member who she loved like a grandson and who visited “Aunt Linda” very faithfully the last years of her life.
Linda married the love of her life, Vann Mize, right out of high school, and the life they built was nothing less than spectacular. Linda was an awe-inspiring daughter, sister, wife, homemaker, business owner, mother, mother-in-law, and grandmother. Everyone was always welcome in her home and would immediately be offered a piece of one of her famous desserts. She loved “feet under her table.” Her home was filled with many items she and her husband made by hand; her yard was a work of art that brought her many hours of joy as she loved to be outside enjoying God’s creation. The only thing Linda loved more than her family was Jesus! She served him every day of her life and never lost faith even though she had suffered much personal loss in her life. Her faith was a testimony that inspired her family to weather difficult storms. No matter what she faced in life, she would always tell you she was blessed.
Linda was also a lifelong member of Sheets Memorial Baptist Church and the Homebuilders Sunday School Class. Her family still talks of her amazing ability to cook a full breakfast each Sunday morning, while starting Sunday lunch before getting her entire family impeccably dressed, out the door, and to Sheets for Sunday School and Church, only to come home and have a tremendously large home-cooked meal on the table within 30 minutes of arriving back home! Known as Nana to those that loved her most, she leaves a large open place in our hearts that can never be filled until we see her again in heaven.
