

She loved her Lord and was a faithful member of Tabernacle Baptist Church for over 75 years. She grew up attending Gapway Baptist Church in Tabor City, NC and was a member there until her move to New Bern in 1954. She always enjoyed going back there to visit old friends and family members. She was also known for her wicked sense of humor, her love of family, and her generous nature.
She is survived by her daughter, Brenda J. Smith (Webster) of New Bern, and two sons: Kenneth Jernigan (Cathy) of Gates, NC, and Joel Jernigan (Barbara) of Morehead City, NC; eight grandchildren: Lisa S. Ries, Cindy S. Ipock, Jody Jernigan, Carrie S. Perez, Worth Jernigan, Everett Jernigan, Amy MacKenzie, and Cindy M Black; 12 great-grand children and one great-great grandson.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Hubert Jernigan, daughter, Maridia MacKenzie, son-in-law William MacKenzie, grandson, Brian MacKenzie, three great grandchildren Tiffany Ipock, Wyatt, and Waylon Jernigan and six brothers and five sisters.
Services will be held Saturday, August 3, 2024 at the Lakeside Chapel in Greenleaf Memorial Park at 11: am., presided by Dr. Scott Gleason.
The family wishes to express their appreciation to the staff of Croatan Village Assisted Living and Gentiva Hospice for their loving and compassionate care.
