Lottie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Franklin Lockey Sr.; her brothers, Albert “Lindy” Brinson and Harvey Brinson; and her sisters, Meta Brinson, Frances L. Moore, and Ruth E. Cipolla. She is survived by her loving brother, Samuel Brinson of Norfolk, Virginia.
Lottie leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish her memory: her daughters, Patricia Lockey and Pamela Jones (Lee); her sons, Franklin Lockey Jr. (Denise), J.C. Lockey (Jackie), and Steven Lockey (Sharon); along with eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Born in Craven County to Josephus and Willie Ethel Brinson, Lottie met and married Franklin Lockey Sr. in 1955. She faithfully served alongside the Salvation Army for many years in both Georgia and New Bern, dedicating her life to helping others and serving her community.
Above all, Lottie was a devoted servant of the Lord. If you knew her, chances are you were blessed to receive one of the many poems she lovingly wrote and shared. She often said, “All my poetry was inspired by the Holy Spirit.” Lottie began writing poetry and songs at the young age of 14, and several of her poems were published throughout the years in the Life section of the New Bern Sun Journal.
Lottie found joy in writing poetry, painting, arts and crafts, and singing. More than anything, she treasured time spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, always making herself available to those she loved. Her strong work ethic, compassionate spirit, and unwavering faith in the Lord were evident to all who knew her.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, May 18, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at the Lakeside Chapel at Greenleaf Memorial Park.
We rejoice in knowing that Heaven welcomed her home into the arms of Jesus. As written in Matthew 25:21:“Well done, good and faithful servant.”
The family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Riverpoint Crest Nursing and Rehabilitation for their loving care over the past four and a half years, as well as Cardinal Hospice for the compassion and comfort they provided during Lottie’s final days on earth.
