Madie "Boots" Adams Everington, 93, of New Bern, North Carolina went home to be with the Lord on Monday, December 11, 2023. Madie was born in Craven County on October 4, 1930 to the late Hyman Adams and Roxie Hartley Adams.
Boots was a collector from childhood, collecting and restoring family heirlooms. This eventually bloomed into a lifelong hobby and career she was able to enjoy with her husband, John. Beginning in the 70's John and Madie's Antiques held not only memories but their collections. From farmhouse primitive handmade items to unique one of a kind items, their shop housed these treasures for over 20 years until retirement. In addition to the antique store Madie was a lifelong attender and supporter of Antioch Free Will Baptist Church. She loved volunteering for church fundraisers and working with the youth. She served the community as Secretary in the Home Demonstration Club, Antioch Women's Auxiliary, Little Swift Creek Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, and Antioch Sunday School.
Left to cherish her memory are many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her beloved husband of 60 years, John Everington.
The family would like to thank Donna Simons, Jennifer Evans, Teresa Fulcher, Ronnie and Sadie Everington for their unending support and care for Madie in her last 6 weeks. The family would also like to extend their sincerest thanks and gratitude to Craven County Hospice.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial donations can be made in Madie's honor to Antioch FWB Church, 762 Antioch Road, New Bern, NC 28560.
A Lakeside Chapel Service will be held on Thursday, December 14, 2023 at 2:00 pm at Greenleaf Memorial Park Cemetery, 900 River Road, New Bern, North Carolina 28562, with Pastor Kenny Vinston and Pastor Michael Ledbetter officiating. She will be laid to rest with her husband following the service.
