Margaret Ann Van Meter

She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar Jones Sr. and Jennie Lillian McFarland Jones; her three sisters, Jennie Lillian, Effie M. Gragnarde, and Hettie E. Vandiford; and her two brothers, Elijah L. Jones and Oscar Jones Jr.

Margaret is survived by her son, Alfred Samuel Allsopp III; three daughters, Debora Lynn Weaver, Crystal Dawn McClurg, and Michelle Ann Cowan; her brother, Linwood Odel Jones; and her sister, Nan Marie Weher. She also leaves behind 15 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren, who will carry her memory and legacy in their hearts.

Margaret will be remembered most for her kind and caring heart and for always trying to help others. She found joy in the simple things in life. Her favorite season was spring. However, she absolutely loved watching the snow fall in the winter. She found beauty in the changes between winter, fall and spring. Her favorite flower was the carnation, and she cherished talking to her angels. One of her favorite songs was “Wind Beneath My Wings,” a song that holds special meaning in remembering her life and spirit.

Margaret’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Her kindness, compassion, and willingness to help others will be remembered and cherished by her family and friends for years to come.
