Mary Lou or as us grandkids called her, Granny was a woman of many words. She was going to make sure you knew exactly how she felt. If you knew Granny you either loved her to death or were terrified of her.
Granny battled dementia over the past 12 years, but prior to that her life revolved around her family and making sure we were all taken care of. Saturday mornings were spent grocery shopping around town with her sister, Saturday nights were spent playing poker around her kitchen table until 3am. Every weekend her house was full of grandkids, at some point we all found a reason to be at granny's house.
No matter what situation, or where we were at if Granny was around there would be laughter, she always had a way of making people laugh, probably with one of her inappropriate saying or jokes. Some of the best life lessons I ever learned came from granny's kitchen table as she smoked her cigarette and drank her pepsi. I have thousands of memories I could share, but I want you all to remember your own memories of her because every person she met had their own special relationship with her and she will be greatly missed by us all.
Thankful for her life and continuing in her memory is her son James (Mousie) Anderson, her son in law Jimmy Taylor, her grandchildren, Erin Taylor Nobles, Trey Taylor, Jack Anderson, CJ Anderson, Jesse Oglesby, Christina Anderson and two great grandsons.
She is predeceased by her husband James W. Anderson, daughter Lori A. Taylor, and two sons Thomas E. Anderson and Carl J. Anderson.
A Graveside Service will be held on Friday, January 31, 2025 at 2:00 pm at New Bern Memorial Cemetery Chapel, 1112 Chelsea Rd., New Bern, NC 28560.
Cotten Funeral Home is honored to serve the family and friends of Mary Lou Anderson.
