Mary Henrietta Gorzalski

Mary H. (McDonald) Gorzalski took her first breath in Heaven on March 8th, 2023. She married her college sweetheart, Ed Gorzalski, and they enjoyed 65 years of Christ-centered marriage. God blessed them abundantly with six children (Joe, John, Anne, Jim, Tom, Mary Catherine) and many grand and great-grandchildren. She taught them her favorite Bible verses, Prov. 3:5-6 & Romans 8:28, along with her favorite song “How Great Tho/u Art”. Born in Marshfield, WI, she was the only daughter of Margaret and Stephen McDonald. She was known as “Mary Sunshine” and grew up with three older brothers (Jack, Jim, Phil McDonald). Her life had a profound impact on so many who crossed her path. Four generations from across the country gathered in New Bern, NC, to express their love and gratitude. They loved her so deeply; her hands were held constantly while songs of praise and prayers filled her room. Each one present was acutely aware that Mary taught them the faith they shared. She demonstrated how to praise Jesus in all things, even in difficult times. Mary was a prayer warrior like none other, daily interceding for countless needs. She prayed for you, and with you, to experience and abide in the love of Jesus. Mary was the face of Christ to many; her joy and peace made heaven feel near. She was defined by her high-energy, boundless joy and contagious laughter. She was gifted with a beautiful soprano voice and a special love for children. Mary was a featured soloist at many concerts and won prestigious honors for her performances. Her desire is to be the director of the Children’s Choir in Heaven. Memorial services will be held at 10am on April 15th, 2023, at Garber Methodist Church (4201 Country Club Drive, New Bern, NC 28562), where she was an active member.
