

Mary was born October 20, 1948 in Roseboro, NC to the late Ottis and Arzilphia Grantham. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Joyce Lamb Bales and Lillie LaWanda Grantham both of Clinton, NC.
She was married to the late Earl “Mack” Maxton Tyndall for almost 47 years. Together they had two children Dennis Lee Tyndall (Lisa) of New Bern and Amy Marie Tyndall Horne (Darrin) of Godwin, NC whom she loved unconditionally. Mary was the proud “Mama” to Joshua Caleb Horne and Emily Marie Horne, both of Godwin, NC. They were the light of her eyes that she treasured dearly.
Family played a vital role in her life and were important to her. Mary is survived by her sister, Diane Jackson of Fayetteville, NC. She was the second momma to her niece, Kathryn Morrison (Rodney) of Fayetteville, NC and nephews William Grantham (Priscilla) of Clinton, NC, Dale Jackson (Carla) of Columbia, SC and Timmy Jackson (Leisa) of Fayetteville, NC. She was a loving great and great-great aunt to many nieces and nephews.
In 1966, after graduating from Midway High School in Sampson County, she attended beauty school in Dunn, NC. She was a beautician in Fayetteville, NC for a few years until they moved to New Bern in 1974. Mary started working part-time at Holiday City MHP in 1974 and later became the manager before the name was changed to Fox Chase Village MHP. She had a wonderful boss, John whom she thought the world of. She was excellent at her job and went above and beyond to help those in need for over 40 years.
Mary was a devoted Christian and a member of Temple Baptist Church. She sang in the choir, was on the bereavement committee as well as serving in other capacities at the church. She was a true servant of Lord with a sweet, generous spirit who did for others. She had many lifelong friends that she met along her life’s journey that were very dear to her heart. To know her was to love her!
The family will receive family and friends at Cotten Funeral Home on Monday, May 31 from 6:00-8:00 pm. A celebration of her life will be held at Cotten Funeral home on Tuesday, June 1, 2021 at 11 am with Rev. Daryl Radford officiating. A graveside service will be held at her home church, Hickory Grove Baptist Church in Clinton, NC at 4:00 pm with Rev. Matthew Creech officiating. Family will gather in the fellowship hall afterwards to receive family and friends.
