Maureen Ann Cook, 86, of New Bern, passed away on Sunday, March 4, 2018. Born on July 26, 1931 in White Plains, NY, Maureen was the daughter of the late Burtis D. MacMaster and Mary Kelly MacMaster. She is preceded in death by her husband, G. Richard Cook and her brother, Donald J. MacMaster. She graduated from Our Lady of Good Counsel High School and Maryland College for Women. She was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church where she served as an usher for many years. Maureen was also very active in the New Bern Historical Society and volunteered with Religious Community Services.
She is survived by her sons, George R. Cook (Julie) of Chicago, IL and William A. Cook (Christine) of Albany, NY; and daughter, Mary Beth Swingle (Eric) of New Bern; grandchildren, Rick Cook, Erin Cheers, Laura Krause, Catherine Cook, William Cook, and Trevor Swingle; and six great grandchildren.
A funeral mass will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, March 23, 2018 at Saint Paul Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Saint Joseph Cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
