Slim was born and raised in Pell City, which is part of St. Clair county, AL. At 18, he joined the USMC, and served as a Communications Chief, traveling the world on his numerous deployments and training missions. After 20 years of faithful service to his country, Meikos retired as a Master Sergeant of Marines in December of 2020.
Six months prior to his retirement, Slim was diagnosed with ALS. Despite knowing the prognosis of his diagnosis, he always remained positive and uplifting to others. He showed a level of resiliency and courage that we should all aspire to. He was the epitome of love and selfless service to others. He always made time for the little things.
When Slim wasn't helping others, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his son Alex. He loved to take his 1989 Mustang to the tracks in Kinston and Jacksonville, NC. He always was a willing and patient teacher, passing on his skills and knowledge to anyone willing to listen and learn. Of his many passions, the one that stands out the most, "ROLL TIDE!"
