Michael Charles McIlwean

Mike was born on February 7, 1976 in Craven County. He graduated from West Craven High School on May 27, 1994 and Pitt College with a degree in nuclear medicine. Mike worked at both Carteret General and Carolina East Medical Center in their pharmacies. He was most recently employed as security at Bosch. He was a member of Beech Grove United Methodist Church. He loved fishing and being out on his boat. Mike was a friendly person who always had a smile.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Charles W. and Joan Bucknall McIlwean; and his two older brothers, Donald and Richard McIlwean and an aunt Patsy M. Gillikin.

Mike is survived by his nephew Ian McIlwean of Acworth, GA; his aunt Marjorie M. Delegal of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; and cousins; Donna Delegal, Rick Gillikin, Larry Gillikin and Ron Gillikin along with many friends especially the Jim and Pat Lewis family, Shawna and Troy Lymon family, Jimmy Lewis family, and the Nicki and Omari Dillahunt family. Also, his friends Mary French, Presley Hughes, and Jordan Chapman.

A Service of Death and Resurrection will be held on Sunday, November 18, 2018 at 3:00 pm at Beech Grove UMC, 1037 Washington Post Road, New Bern. A private inurnment will be held at a later date.
