Opal Lee Humphrey

Opal Lee Humphrey, 86, of Cape Carteret, went home to be with the Lord at her residence on Sunday, August 24, 2025, with her family by her side. She was born October 27, 1938, to the late George and Vida Hollowell.

One of Opal's favorite hobbies was shopping, especially with her family. In addition to shopping, Opal enjoyed working in her yard and painting ceramics.

Leaving behind to honor and cherish Opal's life and memories are her children, Keith Lee (Michele), Robert Lee, Jr. (Debbie), Janie Thwaites (Murray), and Debra Morrell (Terry); grandchildren, James (Laura), Sean (Millie), Nick (Kaiyla), Starr (Geoff), John (Autumn), Erin (Billy), Caleb (Malkha), Isaac, and Hannah (Andrew); 16 great-grandchildren; brothers, Terry Hollowell and Ben Hollowell (Linda); sisters, Joann Cox (Beverly) and Georgia Asby (Horace); and many loving family members and close friends.

Opal is preceded in death by her husbands, Robert E. Lee Sr and Hal Humphrey.

The family will receive visitors on Thursday, August 28, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Cotten Funeral Home. A celebration of life will begin at 12:00 PM. Officiating the service is Rev. Michael Combs. Following the service, Opal will be laid to rest at Greenleaf Memorial Park.
