Pam was born May 20, 1947 in Bellmore, NY. She spent time working and living in New York City as a Registered Nurse at New York Hospital. After getting married, she moved to New Jersey where she raised her family. Upon retiring to North Carolina, Pam rediscovered her affinity and love of swimming. In fact, she participated in the Neuse River Senior Games.
Pam was a Renaissance crafter. She could do it all even after suffering a stroke at 52. Quilts, woodcraft, jewelry, gardening, crochet creatures, basket making, and the occasional stuffed animal repair was how she loved to spend her time. She was an active member of the Fairfield Harbour Chapter of the Hospital Auxiliary.
One of Pam’s most important roles in life was that of grandmother, or Gram as she was called. Despite the pain due to MS, Pam could be found playing with her grandchildren on the ground, crafting with them, and pushing them on the swings.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Bertil and Edith Strindberg.
Pam will be greatly missed by her husband, Larry; son Glenn Ferraris (Salvatrice); daughter Jill Hedges (Sean); step-daughter Debi Ferraris-Teaton (Michael); sister Barbara Strindberg (Linnea Skoglund); grandchildren Connor, Madison, Darian, Haigen, Finian, Tyler, Bryan, and six great-grandchildren.
A service for Pam will be held at Cotten Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, October 6, 2021 at 2:00pm. Celebration of Pam’s life will be held at a later date in Fairfield Harbour.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Stroke Foundation at Americanstroke.org
