Pat was born to Sylvester and Aileen Murphy in the Bronx, NY in 1933 and grew up in North Tarrytown, NY with her older brother, Edward, who predeceased her. She met her husband, Stephen, while they were still in high school. After graduation she attended Secretarial School until Stephen graduated from the Merchant Marine Academy and was assigned to flight school in Florida.
They married in 1955 and started their epic adventure together with travel that took them to Whidbey Island in Washington state before moving back to New York to start their family. She was a part-time secretary in the Yorktown School System and very active in her children's lives. She loved animals, enjoyed baking, and was a talented piano player.
A loving, kind, and caring wife, mother, grandmother and friend, she lived a long, rich and adventurous life. Once her children were grown, she and Stephen moved from New York to London, England. In 1990 they returned to the US where, in 1992, they retired to New Bern, NC where they have resided since.
She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Stephen T. Chambers; two children, a son, Capt. Christopher Chambers, 61 (Mia) of Belle Mead, NJ and a daughter, Shannon Chambers Semple, 64, (Andrew) of New Bern, NC. She is also blessed to have had three grandchildren, Patrick Chambers, Katherine Chambers and William Chambers whom she loved dearly.
We are grateful to the Doctors and staff at Carolina East Medical Center for their excellent care and attention, especially, the ICU and Hospice nurses. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Colonial Capital Humane Society or https://thymiccarcinomacenter.org.
No funeral will be held at her request.
