Paul Elvin Overton

Paul, “Opa” is survived by his wife of 63 years, Irmgard Overton. Paul and Irmgard have two sons, Robert Overton and his wife Mona of Greenwood, Indiana and James Overton and his wife Mary of Montgomery, Alabama. In addition, their five grandchildren Amber, Heather, Alyssa, Paul, and Elizabeth. As well as his sister Janice Gluth, friends in the community in which he spent the last 46 years of his life, and the extended family in Germany that he cared for deeply.

Paul is a retiree of the United States Air Force and Civil Service. After retirement he had the joy of tending to his family farm in Salem, Indiana where he was born and raised. He had a great love and passion for the outdoors which was expressed not only through his farming but also on the golf course.

The funeral service will begin at 11 am on March 19, 2026, at Cotten Funeral Home in New Bern. Following the service there will be military honors, the family will receive visitors with a light lunch, and finally process to St. Joseph Cemetery for burial at 2 pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to the Craven County Hospice at 2818 Neuse Blvd, New Bern, NC 28562.
