Born in Winchester, Tennessee, Peggy spent her childhood on her family's farm in Cowan, Tennessee. When she was nine, she and her mother moved to Asheville, North Carolina where she met her husband, James Wooster. In 1959, she graduated from Lee Edwards High School in Asheville and was a faithful member of the West Asheville Presbyterian Church, where she taught Sunday school. She and her family moved to Pamlico County in 1974, where she and her husband started Cloverleaf Flying Service. She cherished her memories of flying and performing aerial acrobatics with her husband. A strong-willed and independent person, Peggy had an uncanny ability for details. She had a great appreciation for nature and watching wildlife in her yard. Peggy was also an avid reader and enjoyed solving puzzles. She was witty and had a fantastic sense of humor. Peggy was a devoted and loving wife, mother, and grandmother and attended many activities in which her children or grandchildren were involved. After retiring from Pamlico County Sheriff's department, she spent much of her time volunteering and giving back to the community. She was a Gray Lady at CarolinaEast Medical Center, where she made special and lasting friendships. She took great delight in helping others and supporting various charities.
Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, James Lee Sisk and Beatrice Hawkins Sisk and her husband, James Herbert Wooster.
She is survived by her children, Dawn Pollock (Tim), Gene Wooster (Carrie), and Lynn Hardison (Eric), by her grandchildren, James Wooster, Tyler Pollock, and Amber Wooster, by her great-grandchild, Daniel Wooster, and special family, Terry McCoy.
Peggy will be interred at National Cemetery in New Bern, North Carolina along side of her husband on October 17, 2017 in a private ceremony.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Peggy's memory to the PruittHealth Hospice of New Bern, Pamlico County High School HOSA, Disabled American Veterans, or St. Labre Indian School.
