Peter Michael McNamee

Peter Michael McNamee, 78, of New Bern, North Carolina passed away at his home surrounded by his family on Wednesday, January 7, 2026. Peter was born in Mineola, New York on March 10, 1947, to the late John McNamee and Maud Regina Schumann McNamee.

Peter was known as a loving father and grandfather. He was a quiet, polite, generous man and always a gentleman known for his fairness to all. His kindness and generosity showed as he tried to make life easier for everyone. He had a sense of fair play and a sense of humor when you least expected it. Peter was a US Air Force Veteran, demonstrating his dedication and service to his country. Peter was an avid reader and enjoyed water skiing, bicycling, and snow skiing. His love for these activities was well-known among his family and friends. He also was a lover of history and proud of his ability to fix things and take good care of everything he owned. If you got into Peter’s car even if it was 10 years old, it looked like it had just come out of the showroom. He loved driving in his vintage Porsche convertible. He was an active member of the Grummnn Retirement Club, contributing to his community in meaningful ways.

Thankful for his life and continuing in his memory are his beloved wife Nidda McNamee, stepdaughter Ladda Delgado and her husband Louis Delgado, grandchildren, Victoria Delgado, Brittany Delgado, and Timothy Andrew Delgado, and his sister Kathleen McNamee. 

In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his sister Merrilee Ehrlich.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made in Peter's honor to St. Paul Catholic Church, 3005 Country Club Rd, New Bern, NC 28562.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at 11:00 am at St. Paul Catholic Church with military honors.

Peter will be remembered for his bravery, devotion, and compassion, leaving a lasting impact on all who knew him.
