Ralph J. Farula

RIVER BEND | Ralph Jerome (Jerry) Farula, 65, passed away suddenly on August 23, 2015 at his home. Jerry was born in Brooklyn, NY where he spent his first 11 years and was raised in Centereach, LI, NY. He was preceded in death by his parents Jerome and Jennie Farula, sister Marie, brother Anthony, nephews Anthony and Michael. He is survived by his loving wife of 39 years Lona Farula, stepdaughter Theresa (husband Gregory): brothers Joseph, Thomas, Robert; sisters Rose Ann, Jeanette; godchildren Anthony, Thomas, and Gina;, 11 other nephews and nieces; 12 great nephews/ nieces, and one great-great-nephew.

Jerry worked in the food service industry in various capacities for many years and owned his own restaurant. For the last 8 years he worked at the New Bern Double Tree (Sheraton/ Hilton) where he was selected as employee of the year for his excellence in providing constant customer service to the guests and residents. After moving to River Bend in 2006 he became an active volunteer in community activities and was the Co-President of the Community Watch Program. He loved River Bend from the first day he drove down Shoreline Drive to his last day. He was loved by friends and family who will miss his quick wit and loyal friendship. A celebration of life will be held at Cotten Funeral Home at 7 p.m. on Thursday, September 24, 2015. In lieu of flowers the family kindly asks for a memorial contribution to be made to the Rhems First Responders, 5860 Hwy 17, New Bern, NC 28562.
