One of Rodney’s strongest memories of Alan was the time he took Alan fishing and Alan came back as red as an apple. Rodney felt so bad. He also remembers all of the times he would play basketball with Alan. My memories deal with his wedding to Joannie and my visits to their home to play Bunko. We both thought that Alan was one of the dearest men that we have ever known and we will all miss that special man. His funeral today was amazing and the huge numbers of people who attended demonstrated how many loved Alan. Our only comfort is to know that he and Joannie are reunited. We will keep Alan’s family in our prayers.

I'll always remember your big smile!" You were a great friend to me. And the perfect choice to be the godfather of my son. I could always count on you for words of encouragement. One of my greatest memories will always be the vacationing with you in Bath. You are with Joanie and in God's hands now. I will miss you greatly my friend. I love you!"

I will always remember the help Alan gave me in High School, he was a great friend and a really special guy, he gave me a ride every day to my job in New Bern our senior year at WCHS, we both finished classes at lunchtime and I got a job at the License Plate Office, I didn’t have a car, he was working at Montgomery Wards, and had a beautiful old Chevy truck so he offered because he drove by my work place every day, I was so grateful, I offered him gas money but he would not take it, he was a wonderful friend, my heart breaks for his passing and his family but he is with his love Joanie and may there be peace in that. Thank you Alan for helping me to keep a job in High School but most of all for friendship. 😢🙏💔

Alan, from the first time I met you at RW Moore, I felt a friendship with you. Through the years we worked together our friendship grew. You were a brother, a friend, and some one I could count on anytime anywhere. You could always lift my spirits as well as the spirits of anyone you came in contact with.I know you are happy now being back by Ms Joanie's side. I do and will continue to miss you. Love you, BROTHER

We are one of Alan’s customers.
He was the sweetest and one of the most considerate people I have ever met!
He took care of our yard like it was his own!
I am so saddened by his passing.
I will always remember his big heart!

I have lost my best friend. The most genuine person I know. He will never be replaced. For over 30 years he has always been there for me. He was my number one cheer leader even when it was not warranted. His loss is unmeasurable . The only comfort I have is that he is back at Joanie side which I am sure he is once again happy. Rest easy my brother and may you have eternal peace. I love you and always will.
